HLI – Step 3 Restart – Changes To Take Note Of

HLI Members

Congratulations on helping our centre successfully make it to Step 3 of the Restart program. Because you have all done your part, we can now ease restrictions as follows:

  1. At this time, masks are still recommended to be worn in public indoor settings. This includes the hospital in all clinical areas and in HLI common spaces. This may soon change, but for now please continue to wear a mask in indoor common spaces.
  2. Physical distancing is no longer required. Occupancy limit signs will gradually be removed and replaced with the UBC’s ‘Do your part” blue poster. Occupancy will gradually increase. Zoom meetings will continue for now as we start to plan for re-entry to on site work and in person meetings over the next few months.
  3. You must still complete a daily health check assessment, however daily record keeping and reporting to your supervisor is no longer required.
  4. Safety plans have been streamlined to 7 for the entire province / UBC and an individual plan does not need to be created or updated. Just follow one of the appropriate 7 plans. (see link below)
  5. Submission of individual lab Research Resumption plans are no longer required. Please do keep your resumption plan records in the event we need to reinstate them in the future.
  6. Cleaning of high touch surfaces is still required and disinfection stations will continue to be available.
  7. Everyone will be required to take a mandatory online course called “UBC Go Forward COVID-19 Safety Planning Training” . A link will be circulated when it is available.
  8. It is vitally important to get fully vaccinated as we move towards a safe return to in-person research activity this fall. If you have not yet been vaccinated, we encourage you to register and book your vaccine NOW. https://immunizebc.ca
