Health and Safety

Welcome to the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation (HLI) Health and Safety section. Safety is an integral part of our scientific research mission. Our research centre strives to set an example of safe and sensible laboratory practice. Our goals are to create and maintain a safe and healthful research environment.

The Safety Committee is composed of faculty, management and union representatives. The role of the safety committee is to:

• Hold Safety Meetings (ten per year)
• Promote safe work practices and conditions
• Conduct safety inspections
• Work towards reduction or elimination of accidents and incidents
• Review policies and procedures and recommend improved strategies
• Disseminate information about health and safety throughout the JHRC and ensure that policies and programs are adhered to by the individual laboratories
